Ojo de bife


Argentina is known for its delicious beef, and by looking at this photo how could you have any doubts?? If you can believe, this is the rib eye steak Mike ordered at La Cabrera in Buenos Aires. My guess is that it was 2 pounds of beef, maybe more. It was big enough to measure in terms of volume/cubic inches– that’s how thick and crazy big it was. My order of the bife de chorizo (the rump steak) was also a giant serving and tasted even better than the ribeye.
If I knew how large the portions were we would have shared one steak, especially since we sat down to eat around 10:30PM (which is the typical time Argentines eat).

    I miss that beef so much!! And can you believe how few veggies there are! Their idea of a salad is a slice of tomato and shredded carrots. Have you sat at a bar with a Quilmes breaking peanut shells and dumping them on the floor yet? I sent a message to Christine’s facebook, but I’ll tell you here too… Try to find a bar called Acabar in Palermo (by Plz Serrano on Honduras 5733). It’s a fun place with lots of fun board games. If you’re by Recoleta and see a street called Uriburu (by Las Heras), that’s where I lived. Enjoy the empanadas- the big empanada chain actually has the best ones- especially the carne picante ones.
